THERMAL CAKE DRYING
Thermal cake drying (TCD) is a combination of alternating membrane filter plates and heating plates and are utilized for applications where a higher degree of cake dryness is required.
The filtration process starts with the conventional pressure filtration followed by squeezing the cake with membranes and is dried with energy-saving heating elements. This system allows individual degrees of cake dryness as needed.
The system of »thermal cake drying« consists of the following elements:
Filter Press Frame
Any standard filter press can be modified and used
The Membrane Filter Elements
The membrane filter elements are made of Polypropylene and a pipped surface structure, which allows quick exhalation of the vapour created during cake drying.
The Heating Plates
The structure of the heating plates allows a quick and efficient heat transfer on the filter cake via the heating elements.
The heating
Various options of energy sources, i.e. electricity, warm water or steam. Even idle steam from a different process can be used for cake drying.
The suction
An exhauster is needed for the suction of the steam created during filtration.
